Yet again, I planned to post ages ago... I'm getting so lazy, it's unbelievable :)
So, news:
0001. I have a job! And it's here!
I'll be a receptionist from July 1st to Sept 13th (only 3 or 4 shifts per week, though). The two 'bosses' are both in their twenties and totally awesome, definitely my best job interview ever - which was, BTW, at 8.30 pm in a cafe XD I'm actually really looking forward to it - speaking English half of the time, giving Americans tourist tips, explaining how to work our water taps to Japanese (don't ask. It's what the bosses told me.) ... YAY!
0010. Other summer plans: Uhm ... uni, uni and uni. I have a bit of a deficit, so I'm taking one criminal law course I should've done this semester and two courses as preparation for my exam in October. God bless summer uni. But! All indications are that I'll be going to the GP of Hungary again! YAY HUNGARORING, baby, I missed you so last year!
0011. I did buy The Sims 3, and guess what my first random default Sim looked like. I don't know about you, but imo she kinda has a famous face. Scary! O_O
0100. Awesome book is awesome so I think you should all read it. It's YA urban fantasy (yeah, not my cup of tea either, normally) but it's still awesome (mostly because
sarahtales, the author, writes so well). You can read the first chapter here! (And it's not about some kind of demon's book, if that's what you're worried about. The title is so clever that it took me 2 days to figure it out!)
0101. Okay, the weather is really yucky. It's rainy and wet and rainy and also, it rains. Did I mention the rain? Half of Austria is drowning. And as we all know (ha, ha) the weather on Saturday will determine the weather for the next 7 weeks!
0110. ( A not-short summary of my F1!twitter this weekend )
0111. I need to go study now... Meh. I have two exams this week (Study of Literatures and Study of Language) and one next week (Language Analysis). The upside: A big part of the Literature exam is Lady Windermere's Fan - which my school drama group did in 2005 :D Ladies and Gentlement, meet the former Mr. Cecil Graham/Mr. Dumby (uhm ... we had a chronic lack of boys in the group.)
Have a good week, everyone!

bitchy
On uni break, currently sitting in a coffee shop with hot chocolate and being entertained by Buttercup, waiting for my flatmate to be finished with her lectures so that we can go get some lunch at the uni canteen.
Oh, by the way, I bought The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Didn't really plan to, but I saw it in a bookshop, started flicking through and the name Malfoy caught my eye, so I thought why not. Don't really have anything to say on it, because terribly exciting it was not, but just two things, for the record:
(not spoilery either)
1) Malfoys are, have always been, and will always be the following: Evil, hypocritical, evil, morally reprehensible, elitist, rude, evil, snobby, prejudiced, discriminating and also very evil. Did I mention EVIL?
JKR totally gets a failing grade for that from me. I mean, honestly, that's just really lame. I would have loved to see Draco's grandfather a muggle lover or something. But centuries of evilhood? Really?
2) JKR is many things, but subtle she is not always. Take the two French names in this book: Bertrand de Pensées-Profondes is a wizarding philospher. Lisette de Lapin is a rabbit animagus. I SEE WHUT U DID THAR, JKR! I still know enough French to translate de Pensées-Profondes ("of the deep thoughts") and (de Lapin ("of the bunny"). What is in a name, indeed?
But hey, at least her witch huntings are no longer happening in the 13th century. 15th century is still not completely correct, but getting there, aye? XD
(in case you want to give it a try, there's a download at
snookslibrary.)
...Urgh, I'm tired. And I have to study lots of law history for my test tomorrow at 4 p.m. I WANT MY HOLIDAYS, NOW! :|

In case there's someone out there still wondering why I bothered to read the Twilight books just to mock them, here's all my reasons and more:
Twilight makes for the best fanwank ever
In short: For the lulz.
It might want to make you read it, too - or you could learn everything there is to know about it from
cleolinda (quoted in the article).
In related news: I hear that the upcoming (for us Europeans, at least) movie is a lot better than the book, and I'm actually excited :)
Also, there is still the Boy Candy thing.
ETA: Look what I found! (WARNING: movie spoiler) This scene just made me go OMFGLOOOOOOL, but how cool is that audience? Love the *purr* at the close-up of his abs XD

Family Obama lurves Twilight
1.) Do not compare this series to the Harry Potter books. They have absolutely nothing in common, and I fail to see why so many people seem to be moving on from one to the other.
2.) OMG DO NOT LET YOUR YOUNGEST DAUGHTER READ BREAKING DAWN!!1!1 The kid is what, 7 years old? Too young for horror movies means to young for this book!
...Actually, don't let the ten-year-old read it, either. No-one ever should.
So, finished the thing yesterday at noon. Will rant about it later, now I have to read an MST of the first book and get some groceries for the weekend before the stores close.

Okay, finished with Eclipse now. Dear God, that's what, 3 books in 72 hours?
...I get like that when I read. No matter what, as long as it lies still long enough. I'll definitely post mockery at some point (because, SRSLY?? Some parts are just ... indescribable.), but I'd rather just get Breaking Dawn over and done with. And maybe that ominous 5th book, but I think NOT - book 1 all over again? Meh.
One good thing came out of all this, though: I finally found a way to read ebooks on my mobile phone! *grins smugly* I am obviously a technical genius in the making. That's basically the only reason why I managed to read these books and still go to uni - because honestly, all the English and American Studies lectures don't require more than half an ear and even less brain.
Well, Mr. Super Sparkles calls. BRB.
XD
PS: Another good thing: I get to use my sparkly!icon. That one just had me rofl ever since I first saw it ^^
ETA after reading the preface: Oh, I see, not half a page in and the Twu Wuv is back with a vengeance. I'm sort of starting to think that you need a gun licence for that one...
ETA after one fifth of the book: WHUT. ... I'd say ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME, but this is Twilight. As one reviewer put it: "Twilight means never having to say you're kidding." I already deeply, deeply regret having started to read this book. I mean, the first 3 weren't masterpieces, but at least they were somewhat reasonable.
This... this is just appalling. On so many levels. I need a break now, I think.
Uhm ... bear with me, flist? It won't be long until I'm done and won't utter another word about these books. Promise.

*hangs head in shame*
What was that I said about no more all-nighters? :| (I'm starting to suspect my peppermint tea has caffeine in it)
Well, I decided not to get 3 hours of sleep and instead just go to my criminal law lecture, which I would've skipped otherwise. At least it should keep me awake. And if not, I'll go to the Vativ park behind the uni and sleep a bit on the grass XD
Anyway, finished New Moon, am now starting Eclipse. There might be mockery later.
God, I'm so lucky I don't have any tests this week... By next Wednesday (my next test), I should be done with the series.

Note to self: Stop pulling random all-nighters just because you don't want to stop reading. SRSLY.
So, Twilight:
( I giggled, then snorted, then cackled snidely. But I didn't hate! (All of it, anyway) )
Okay, I think I'm done here. The final verdict is that, while my rational mind tells me to OMG CLOSE THAT PDF FILE MOMENTARILY!, the 12-year-old girl in me still wants to read on. And well, I did say that I liked parts of the book, didn't I? Which is pretty unbelievable as it is, since I read so many crushing and funny reviews beforehand (and by the way, have a look at this brilliant Catalog of Mockery and some Twilight/HP wank *g*)
Oh, and I will definitely go see the movie, once it's out here (January, I think, since we people of the European continent are much oppressed). Not only because it's interesting enough, but I have a feeling Bella might be less annoying (at least in the trailer), and of course, Robert Pattinson is BOY CANDY :D
Uhm, I gather people knew about LJ being down? Heh, so clueless!me is back again, how nice :)

So.
After watching the bestest One Piece episode ever tonight, I found a torrent for the Twilight series, and I think I'm giving it a go. I'm quite positive that I'll hate it, since I spent part of my evening reading reviews, but hey, at least it should be worthwhile and/or make me giggle. And I want to know what everyone is talking about, obviously. I only know that there are sparkly vampires.
Been very lazy all weekend... rightfully so, though, since there's nothing to do for uni :D
Well, off to teh sparklez!
ETA: I'm two pages in, and everything's screaming 'EEEEEEEEEMOOOOOOO' at me already :p

Happy Birthday
ice_elf!!!!
I hope you got lots of shiny things!
Troy: Fall of Kings arrived yesterday! I finished it this afternoon, having come to the conclusion that David Gemmell is a GENIUS. Honestly, it's the best thing I've read in ages. DC's book had to wait, of course, but I'm looking forward to reading it now.

I think I've set a new personal record today: Went to bed at 9 a.m., got up at 7 p.m.
I think I have a problem.
I didn't miss much today, anyway, aside from thunderstorms. But I should really try and get back to a normal sleep rhythm, hence my master plan: Staying awake this night and the whole day tomorrow, then start sleeping normally again.
I had an amazon.com orgy once again and ordered two books today: The first one I've been waiting for since last September, Troy: Fall of Kings by David Gemmell. Because apparently, I just can't abandon my fantasy and historical literature.
And, since the revelations about DC left me a bit shocked, I ordered his autobiography It is what it is. *proceeds to cuddle the poor David*
Vivent les vacances!
